We recommend to always use the follower plate; it is very important that the ambient temperature is low and when high viscosity grease is used. Due to the depression created by the pump, the plate is attracted towards the bottom of the drum by atmospheric pressure. It is pushing the grease into the pump and avoids air cavities. Also, it removes the grease remaining on the walls down to the bottom of the drums.
